Ontario Senior Caregiver action Network for FASD (OSCAN)

In 2021, Ottawa FASD advocates Nancy Lockwood, Elspeth Ross, and Barbara Sabourin launched a provincial support group for senior caregivers of adults with FASD, after recognizing that their needs were largely unmet by existing services. Funded through Health Nexus, Nancy Lockwood and Angela Geddes aimed to reduce caregiver stress, foster peer support, and assist with lifetime planning. Monthly sessions built strong connections and resulted in a shared resource guide. The group calls on governments and agencies to invest in supports for adults with FASD and their aging caregivers, recognizing this as a pressing health equity issue.
